A Mathematical View of Shahnameh

“A Mathematical View of Shahnameh” (دیدگاه انگارشی بر شاهنامه ی فردوسی) is the title of a book which has been published in 595 pages, including maps, figures and photos in end on the year 2008 in Iran. The research and writing of this book has been taken about 7 years and has been done in Sweden. The book is in Persian, concerning Firdausi and his work, Shahnameh, the Persian National Epic.

This is not a usual literature book but it is based on essentials of the statistical physics and mathematical calculations to consider literature and history. The goal of this research is to reach to a point where the subjects such as history and literature can be analyzed by mathematics.

Our experiences show that not only the words often confused or misused but the subjects that we have received from history could be declared different if they are coming from different sources as well. Sometimes they cannot be related or connected to each other even roughly at all. This is while in the field of sciences we can be always sure if any of the subjects might be considered as a low, theorem or just a belief or could be calculated simply. In such a way, if we speak English or Chinese, again the result will be the same, or in a simple expression we can say 2+2 is 4 even if is fit to our demands and desires or not.
Now let's we consider this subject in Shahnameh. We are told that the number of couples of poems was about 60000 while what we have today is about 50000 couples at Shahnameh of Firdausi (Ferdowsi). In the other hand we have received very different numbers in different issues of this work which have come from Turkish or Arabic translation of this Persian work. We have no access to the original source at all the question is here that, which of these numbers can be the right one or nearly close to the real number? Another example is about the years who Firdausi has worked to finish his Shahnameh. Some of the sources define it about 14 years while some other reports it about 20, 25, 30 or 35 years. So now, which of these numbers could be the correct one or nearly equal the years that Firdausi spent on this work? How we are able to prove the correct one?
In the today’s method, it is tried to choose one of the reports based on authority. This means, a researcher may accept or deny a report/reports, if he respect the reporter or not. But we may definitely realize that a subject might be reported wrong even if its reporter is respectful. In this way, we must try to find a new method to achieve the best result which can be independently provable.
Realizing a macroscopic system which is a combination of different elements, before any consideration is needed to study new data which are undoubted based on recognition of the basic laws between those elements.
Shahnameh as an examined sample of "A Mathematical View of Shahnameh" is a complex system which is a combination of many different subjects. In this way, before any consideration in this old book, it is needed to study and realize the different elements which are used, and then try to find out the laws between these elements. Following this method gives us a new view and recognition about the subjects which have been explained. Further more, these new recognitions bring the answers to the unknown parameters such as the number of the original couples or the number of years that Firdausi spent to accomplish his job and so on.
Since any parameter can be coordinated in space-time system, in this way, the subjects in Shahnameh as the different elements of a macroscopic system have been considered in two different ways, space coordinates and time conditions in this new method. In the first we fetch all the places which have been mentioned in Shahnameh. Then we try to find the relations between these places according to their related time our dynasty. In this way we are able to categorize them in specific boarders which can be compared with other additional information. In the other hand we may do the same with the data about time in Shahnameh. Since there are many mysteries in Shahnameh, we can sometimes make some presumption and with using the differential equations parallel with considering “reduction to the absurd” we will be able to find the most acceptable answers. Finally we will get two kinds of result from considering the subjects concerning space and time. If these results fit to each other or declare the other one, then we may have hopefully reached to our goal.
